Renewing Your Maine Certification by Text

Renewing a certification is the visit most people dread the least and put off the most. You already know how it works, so it feels like an errand rather than an appointment. At Relief Clinic, recertification is also available by telemedicine, which means for many Maine patients it can be done from the couch.

This post explains how renewals work at the clinic's Maine office in Auburn, what to have ready, and what actual patients say about the experience.

Telemedicine for recertification

Relief Clinic's own site carries the line “Telemedicine Now Available For Recertification.” You do not have to drive to Auburn for a renewal unless you prefer to. The clinic's telemedicine hours are seven days a week, from 10:00am - 8:00pm, so you can pick a time that does not disrupt your day.

The in-person route is still there too. The Auburn office at 216 Center Street sees patients on Wednesdays from 12:00pm - 3:30pm and Fridays from 10:00am - 2:30pm. If you like a face-to-face visit, that is your option.

How to start

The clinic's Maine process begins with a text to (207) 241-2815. That is true for new patients and for people renewing. Say that you are a returning patient and that you want to renew, and the staff will take it from there.

What to have ready

  • Your current Maine driver's license or State ID. The clinic says Maine requires the provider to see it.
  • Your current certification card, so you can read the details on it.
  • A charged phone and a quiet spot, if you are renewing by telemedicine.
  • A payment method. The clinic accepts cash and all major credit cards.
  • If you have a mental health condition, the HIPAA form and PCL-5 that the clinic asks of those patients.

Make sure the ID you send is the one you hold today. A patient named Jessica Bourgoin wrote that she sent her old driver's license by mistake and the staff fixed it quickly and kindly. You can skip that detour by checking before you send anything.

What patients say about renewing here

Speed is the theme in the clinic's Google reviews. Emmalena Stanhope wrote on August 30, 2026:

“Extremely FAST,(had updated card texted to me literally 21 Minutes after I TEXTED them for a renewal.) Extremely convenient, and VERYYY reasonably priced. Will be renewing through here from now on. Thank you again.”

Kari Robbins, who left her review on August 19, 2026, described a similar pace: “Very quick & efficient! The webiste was very easy to understand & I had my digital copy within 5 minutes of submitting my request for an appointment! Definitely will be using this company going forward for my renewals!”

Natasmai wrote on September 8, 2026: “Very easy and fast.. pleasant to work with and emailed the temp card to me in about 3 seconds flat!!” These are individual experiences, so your timing may differ. They do line up with the clinic's own promise of same-day approval and same-day electronic copies for telemedicine.

What a renewal costs

The clinic's published Maine prices are $39.99 for an in-person visit and $43.99 for telemedicine. If you want to confirm which price applies to your renewal, ask when you text. The staff can answer it in a sentence.

Do not wait until the last minute

This is general advice rather than a clinic rule. Look at the date printed on your current card, and start your renewal with room to spare. Texting early removes the pressure if you need to reschedule or fix a document. Even with quick turnarounds, a little buffer is a kindness to your future self.

If you are not sure how to proceed

Maybe your health has changed since your last visit, or you are unsure whether to see someone in person this time. The clinic offers free consultations, and its provider will talk through your situation with you. The clinic describes its approach as customized, with in-depth consultations focused on understanding your needs.

If you are a patient who started in Florida and now lives in Maine, you are not alone. Carol Anderson, a long-time patient, wrote that after she relocated to Maine three years ago she was able to stay with the clinic. The last post in this series covers how the two states differ.

To renew, text Relief Clinic at (207) 241-2815 and tell them you are coming back. It is the shortest path from where you are to a renewed certification.
